Psalm 17

Psalm 17
If you spend about 10 minutes watching the news or scrolling on Facebook would would see that we have a problem with injustice in this country.  The truth is we have always had an issue with injustice since the beginning of time.  Injustice is a result of sin in the world and sin in each of our hearts.  The problem with injustice is that no matter how much we try to legislate to make it go away, it never will.  The truth for the Christian is that we can expect that we will experience injustice in our life because God told us we would.  That is the hope that we receive from our Scripture text this week, Psalm 17.  In this text, David is experiencing some form of injustice, however he does not try and figure it out for himself.  He does not try and fight his own battle.  Instead he runs to God for His shelter him and allows Him to take up his cause for him.  The truth that we learn is, our hope, peace and joy is not found in the justice this world offers, it is found our eternal home with no more sin, no more pain and no more injustice.  God is our shelter; He is our fortress, and He is our rock.  He is where we run, to fight for us, when we cannot fight for ourselves.
