Lots of families this week sent children to school. As “Back to School” officially kicks off, we witness a new season that annually brings to families and children all kinds of emotions, changes, and transitions. It is reasonable to assume that virtually no family this week just woke up on that morning and said, “oh, school starts today” but rather, by necessity, there had been some preparations undertaken in order to make the start of a new school year successful.
Under this umbrella of ‘necessity’, we look this time to the text of Hebrews 12:1-3. As we celebrate 30 years as a congregation, I will propose that these verses contain for us at least three items of necessity if we hope to continue to “run the race” before us with success.
