I am reminded of some years back hearing from my doctor that the 5 pounds I was gaining a year would end up really being a problem health wise. Through the course of a long season of time I endeavored to watch what I ate (no more Twinkies or Chinese buffets twice a week), and to begin the practice of exercise which included walking and weights. It was amazing what transformation would occur as I changed my focus from ‘adding on’ to ‘building up’! Paul address the same concern in 1 Corinthians 14, only from a spiritual vantage point over that of simply physical. We will look to this text in our message this week titled “Be Wise: Building Up the Body”, and it would be most helpful to read this chapter in advance a couple of times as you prepare you heart and mind for worship.
