Life is all about learning, and that certainly applies to our Christian walk and to our grasp and understanding of God’s Word. I have ‘learned’ (pun intended!) that a great way to gain a fuller understanding of the New Testament is to recognize its connection to the Old Testament, and this week we do exactly that in our review of Zechariah 9:9-12 in a sermon titled “The Arrival of the King.” On Palm Sunday we celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and yet this event was already referenced some 500+ years earlier in Zechariah. Looking at this text we will ‘learn’ of the prophecy, the person, and the purpose of King Jesus and why this is important to us.
