We have all been there…one year draws to a close and a new one upon us, and accompanying this transition into the new year is a corresponding desire to make changes in how we will live and carry ourselves. Most of us will identify 1-2 items of special significance and importance, usually related to weight or exercise. And most of us, at this point in the new year (2 weeks in), have already failed miserably and have scrapped our resolutions !!!
All this got me thinking about “resolutions” and an angle I had not necessarily considered before. We get all fired up establishing our resolutions, and it is primarily an exercise of individual preference, but what if God were the one establishing our resolutions for the new year? I wonder how they might be different from our own?
This week we will look deeper into four resolutions I believe God would have for us, in a sermon titled “Resolution Reset.” We will look to several texts this Sunday: Deuteronomy 30:15; Proverbs 8:11; 1 Peter 4:10; Psalm 37:5-6; Philippians 3:14.
