Most of us likely have an extensive list of things we should do. My own list includes many items–I should iron the 32 dress shirts hanging in the closest downstairs; I should eat more salads and green beans instead of visiting Cookie Company every week; I should fix the malfunctioning air turbine on my roof; I should quit drinking Diet Coke…you get the picture! All of us are aware of what we should do, but the problem is that we aren’t motivated enough to do it!
Our text this week of Luke 18:1-8 presents a parable that sets forth a similar scenario, one consisting of our Lord’s call to persistent prayer. All of us likely know we should engage in prayer more, and the witness of our widow this week offers us a glimpse of not only why we should but also how we should.
