Obstacle or Opportunity

Obstacle or Opportunity

As follow up from another typical pheasant season that found me missing way more birds than I shot, I found myself considering a new shotgun. My eyes were on a double barrel, over/under, as that was what the guys who were hitting the birds were shooting. However, my budget was definitely limited, and thus I enlisted the help of one Bob Budd in my search, who, if anyone could find a deal on guns, it would be Bob! And sure enough, about 2 weeks into the search I get a call from Bob who found a shotgun for me. But there existed one major obstacle…only one barrel fired on this double barrel! But Bob, seeing this obstacle as an opportunity for a good deal, offered about a third of what the gun was worth and purchased it “as is” on my behalf. And then tinkering with the gun for about 10 minutes discovered a faulty firing pin, which he replaced, and all of a sudden your pastor had a gun that had two useable barrels, transforming an obstacle into an opportunity! Now, if the obstacle of “marksmanship” is to be overcome, you will need to wait with me until November!
Our biblical account this week of Mark 6:33-44 recounts the same, and Lord willing, I look forward to joining you for worship and learning together from God’s word how to turn obstacles into opportunities.
