We are prone to avoid or fear activities that we lack confidence in performing. I think prayer can be included here, for we often lack the confidence that God hears or answers prayer, we lack confidence in our ability to pray, and we lack confidence because we have many questions regarding prayer; therefore, we find ourselves either not praying, or praying faithlessly or out of a sense of duty and ritual. I hope to overcome these concerns this week by presenting from the Scriptures why we can pray with confidence and expectation and cause us to realize that few things grieve the heart of God more than prayerlessness on behalf of His people.
