I suspect all of us live in the hope and dream of having a life of meaning and significance. Solomon has dealt with this over the course of the previous 10 chapters, and has certainly dispelled the myth that meaning and significance are found in pursuits such as money, fame, power, and sinful indulgences and excesses. And he should know, for his life is living proof that these things simply are “vanity”.
In the closing two chapters of Ecclesiastes, Solomon provides for us four truths that as they are applied will result in a life of meaning and significance. We will divide these last chapters into two sections, both titled “Living a Life of Meaning and Significance” with this week’s message focusing on 11:1-12:8.
