If you bring up the topic Satan and his demons today in our culture, there are many people who would laugh at you, sadly some of them would be Christians. Many people deny the existence of a spiritual world. In the worldview of our culture the idea of a spiritual realm is in the same categories as fairy tales, that demons are what horror movies are about and that they truly do not exist. However, this is not true, demons are very real and they have the power to influence, torment and even possess human beings.
This Sunday we will be looking at an interaction that Jesus had with a man who was possessed by demons in Mark 5:1-20. What we find is that the bible has a lot to say about the existence of the demonic realm and that often these demonic influences lead us onto a path of destruction and away from God. However, what we discover is that Jesus has the power to deliver us from our sin and gives us the hope of a new life that we are to proclaim all who will hear.
