In a review of my prayer journal, it is easy to see how often the Lord uses hard and difficult things to teach, equip, and correct me. I suspect that all of us would rather avoid these potentially “painful” situations and circumstances, but in reality we will usually learn more about ourselves, others, and our Lord in and through these hard times as over times of leisure and smooth sailing. We will find the same to be true as we witness the infant church in Acts 6 face troubles, both from within and from without. As we walk through this text we will see how the early church dealt with these problems, and find that principles in action then are just as effective today!
