Waiting seems to be a mandatory part of our lives, whether it be waiting for all the family to get to the car for Sunday worship, waiting for that final participant to gather for a meeting, or especially the inevitable wait while visiting a doctor’s or dentist’s office. I can’t speak for you, but to be honest, I hate waiting (can a pastor appropriately say that?). Although I have developed an extremely low tolerance for waiting, it seems to be part of my life and daily activities. Ughhh!!
The phenomenon of waiting is certainly not unique to our day, and our text of Acts 1:12-26 depicts the early community of faith amidst a season of waiting. Our sermon is titled “Tarry Together” and in it we will discover several useful and practical principles that will both help and encourage us as we wait.
