Have you ever faced a time or season in your life when it felt like all the cards in the deck were stacked against you? When if something could go wrong, it did go wrong, and it seemed as the whole world was aligned against you? No one is exempt from such feelings due to the nature of the fallen world in which we live, and as such, there are times in all of our lives when the night seems exceptionally dark.
The sermon text of Acts 23 contains a most favorite verse of mine, and one intended to bolster our spirits as we face fears, discouragements, and yes, even those dark nights of problems, doubt, and despair. Please read through the chapter, and pay special attention to verse 11 for that is where we will focus as we find comfort in the Lord’s presence just as Paul did.
