Thank You Abiding Savior

Dear Abiding Savior Family,

We wanted to write to all of you as I transition out of my position. First and foremost, I want to thank Jesus for allowing me to be part of this amazing church for this year.  There have been difficult times but also very joyful times. I have learned a lot and you have all helped me see the love of Christ week by week.

I want to thank the Abiding Savior staff and Rooted volunteers for being amazing partners in ministry and friends. The support received from you all has been incredible. I also want to thank the students and their families, thank you for letting us be part of your lives, and for the love that you have poured out on Kaetlyn and I. It has been awesome to watch students come to faith in Christ, learn and grow in different ways. 

It has been incredible to be a part of a church body that wants to see their youth and families rooted and built up in Christ. Colossians 2:6-7 says: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” In these verses we see how Paul urges the church of Colossae to live their lives in Christ, to make Christ their foundation and to build their lives from that.

We want you all to know that we will always cherish this time that we had at Abiding. It is bittersweet, but we follow God’s plan, and we trust that plan to be the best plan for our lives. Please know that we are only a call or text away and we would love to keep in touch with you.

We ask that as we leave, that you pray for us and the journey that God has laid in front of us. As many of you know we will be working with the Free Lutheran Bible College for a year (come visit any time), and after that year we will move to Haiti and serve with Mission Haiti for 3 years. We trust that God is going to teach us, equip us, and work through us in these years to come, but we also know that we need the prayer and support of those around us 

Lastly, I want to encourage you all with Ephesians 3:14-20. It says: “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

We will be praying for Abiding Savior, Rooted, and the entire congregation. We love you all and we hope this will not be the last time we see each other.
